Create a probe

Get AppImage  Get it from the Docker Hub  Get it from the Snap Store  Get it from the Flathub

Probe — is a snapshot of your computer's hardware state.

Run this simple command in the console to create a probe of your computer (devices information and depersonalized system logs will be securely uploaded to the database and you'll get an URL to view the probe):

sudo -E hw-probe -all -upload

Please follow install instructions here if the tool is not pre-installed in your Linux/BSD distribution or start one of the Live images with pre-installed tool: Debian, ArcoLinux or OpenMandriva. Also you can use cross-platform binaries: AppImage, Docker, Snap or Flatpak.

TIP:  By creating probes you contribute to the HDD/SSD Desktop-Class Reliability Test study.

Inventory

The tool may help to simplify inventory of hardware in your organization.

Monitoring

Protect your servers by setting up hardware monitoring. It is also the best way to help the project live longer.

Privacy

Private information (including the username, machine's hostname, IP addresses, MAC addresses, UUIDs and serial numbers) is NOT uploaded to the database.

The tool uploads 32-byte prefix of salted SHA512 hash of MAC addresses and serial numbers to properly identify unique computers and hard drives. UUIDs are decorated in the same way, but formatted like regular UUIDs in order to save readability of logs. All the data is uploaded securely via HTTPS.
